Affogato-Eiskaffee-Sommerkaffee-Kaffeeheimat

If you trust my ability to read coffee grounds, or at least follow the weather forecast, summer will be back next week and it's time to introduce you to the perfect recipes for the perfect iced coffee. Because cold coffee drinks are absolutely amazing on hot summer days and should be on every good menu. Even in the 80s, iced coffee, i.e. cold coffee with vanilla ice cream and cream, was absolutely trendy and found its way into every common ice cream parlor. And even today, the summer drink is an absolute box office hit and is an indispensable sweet refreshment on hot summer days.

The classic iced coffee - How to make it at home

A classic iced coffee is easy to make at home. You need a good filter coffee or espresso as a base. Try our Filter No. 1 - The Strong One - House Coffee or Espresso No. 1 - Italian Style - both delicious.
The easiest way is to brew 60g of Filter No. 1 in one litre of water and then let the strong filter coffee cool down. You can also simply put it in the fridge so that you can enjoy the iced coffee really icy. If you want to do it quickly, just add ice cubes. You can also prepare these in advance, using coffee instead of water - this way your cold coffee won't be watered down and will retain its really strong flavour. Then add vanilla ice cream, whipped cream on top and you have the classic iced coffee for hot summer days. The emphasis here is really on whipped cream, the fats in real cream combine better with the flavours of the coffee and don't just sugar it.

Iced coffee recipes - 5 delicious alternatives

Cold Brew - The hip successor

I've prepared something for you: My Cold Brew Bundle - the perfect duo for hot summer days and for a fruity iced coffee alternative. Simply mix 60g of Brasil Red Catuai Specialty Coffee with one liter of water in the French Press, leave to steep in the fridge overnight for 12 hours and then enjoy the aromas of the aerobic microlot as a cold brew.

Viennese iced coffee - the creamy temptation

The Viennese iced coffee is for those who like their iced coffee a little creamier. You need a double espresso or 50 to 60 ml of strong cold filter coffee. If you prefer espresso, prepare it directly on ice cubes and dilute it a little with cold water. Then mix the diluted espresso with three (!) scoops of vanilla ice cream in a hand mixer to a creamy mass and pour it into chilled glasses - done and enjoy!

Affogatto - The Italian

Mmm - the Roman gods know what's delicious! Pour a double espresso into a large cup, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream - and your Italian iced coffee is ready.

Espresso Tonic on ice - the iceless iced coffee

What sounds really delicious is really delicious. The espresso tonic on ice is not only a great alternative to iced coffee, it is also a simple cold brew alternative. Simply pour espresso into a tumbler glass over ice cubes and pour tonic water over it. Later in the evening you can also refine it with a shot of gin - heavenly!

A vegan alternative at the end

The simplest option is to prepare your iced coffee with your favorite vegan milk and ice cream alternative. But because that would be way too easy, we have the super delicious recipe for my favorite vegan ice cream for you:

You need:

- Coconut milk
- Cashew
- Almond milk
- Vanilla or vanilla flavour

If you don't have an ice cream maker (very few do), you'll need a lot of muscle power, time, stamina and a good whisk. Mix all the ingredients together vigorously, chill for 20 minutes, add air, chill again and mix again - until the mixture looks like soft ice cream. This creates a light, creamy ice cream without crystals that even non-vegans will love! Now just pour it into a container that fits in the freezer and then enjoy it whenever you feel like it!

What began as a trend in the 80s is now being continued in many alternatives. You should definitely pay attention to the quality of the coffee for your iced coffee. As the name suggests, this is the most important component of iced coffee - besides the vanilla ice cream.
Now get your cups ready, try it out and let me know how you like to prepare your iced coffee.

I look forward to your answers!
