Brasil Pantano – Red Ruby - All about the green coffee & the coffee farmThe origin of this year's Red Ruby takes us to Fazenda Pântano, located in the Cerrado region of Brazil. The farm is run by Wagner Ferrero, grandson of Italian immigrants who came to Brazil in 1912 to work on coffee plantations. If anyone was born with a passion for coffee, it's Ferrero. So, it's no surprise that today they are one of the largest producers of high-quality Brazilian coffee, cultivated on over 550 hectares of land. Every hectare is carefully monitored and analyzed for soil quality, water requirements, rainfall, etc. |
The fazenda is also distinguished by many special features and focuses on sustainability and social engagement. The use of the latest technologies and the implementation of sustainable practices ensure the production of high-quality, sustainable coffee. The farm was recently awarded a sustainability prize by a national magazine in the field. In addition to regular cultivation, parts of the farm are also used by Ferrero to experiment with varieties and processing methods. This is done in close collaboration with the Brazilian Coffee Research Institute. The community is also of great importance to the farmer. The fazenda supports a local school, finances various training programs for its employees, and offers comprehensive healthcare.
